Although much of this 160ha (400-acre) property is devoted to collections of exotic and native trees, there are a number of natural woodland, meadow and wetland habitats for spring ephemeral wildflowers and migratory and nesting birds.

VEHICLE ACCESS:
North: Access Arboretum Road off College Ave., where there is one small and two larger parking lots, the Arboretum Centre and Nature Centre, both of which are closed except for special events.
South: Arboretum Road can be accessed off East Ring Road where there is small parking lot at the Arboretum. Before that there is free off-hour parking and paid parking lots of the University.
TRAIL ACCESS: Trails can be accessed from any of the parking lots.

PHOTO FEATURES: The diversity of habitats provides a number of small area landscape and close-up nature photography opportunities through the seasons.
NATURAL FEATURES:
Woodlots with some old growth trees offer spring migratory bird species and spring ephemeral wildflowers. Late summer and fall bring a variety of fungus species including giant puffballs.
Wetlands: Beaver and mink are resident in wetland areas.
Natural meadow areas are small but diverse with many forest-meadow ecotone species.
